My whole computer restarts when i drag clips into the timeline

I've been using premiere pro for the past year and this happens way too often. 

When i drag clip from my file explorer to the timeline, it will freeze my whole pc and I wont be ble to do anything and after 30secs, my whole computer restarts. It is super annoying when this happens because i have to reopen all the tabs again. Worst is, it happens in the middle of an edit.

 

Do let me know of solutions that can fix this as it affects the workflow a lot. Thank you.
