hi
i am working on a youtube video project and Screenshot 2024-04-21 at 5.12.35 PM.png
i don't know how but the whole V2 layer just somehow overwritten my V1 layer
see the photo i have v2 layer selected and what currently is v1 layer that was v2 layer that automatically just went down a layer and overwritten the bottom layer

i have lost 3 days of work here, i have checked all the autosaved projects but found nothing

i have faced this issue 3-4 times now
whichever layer is selected in the timeline goes down and overwrites the layer underneath it

is there any fix to this? so I can recover my work if not then any tips on how i prevent this from happening in future?

i have tried to do undo it - it didn't fix it

i have opened the earliest autosaved project it is also not there

Need urgent help so i can continue with the project

I believe that track may have been deleted inadvertently. Please check your Keyboard Shortcuts to see if there's a shortcut assigned to delete a video track.

To access Keyboard Shortcuts in Adobe Premiere Pro, go to the "Edit" menu on Windows or the "Premiere Pro" menu on macOS. Look for "Keyboard Shortcuts" to open the Keyboard Shortcuts window. You can also use the shortcut Ctrl + Alt + K on Windows.

Glad to help! Anytime. It sounds like you're referring to the "Move Video Sources Down" or "Nudge Clip Selection Down" shortcuts.

yeah but
I still have a problem
i removed that nudge selection up and down from the shortcut
but i use that shortcut very often

is there any way that i can use that shortcut only when i have a clip/item selected? not when any item is not selected so it dont move the entire layer

I want to highlight that in Adobe Premiere Pro, pressing Alt + Down Arrow will move the entire sequence by default if nothing is selected.

So to make sure your tracks don't get moved accidentally in Adobe Premiere Pro (like with Alt + Down Arrow), just lock the tracks you want to protect:

  1. Find the track you want to protect in your timeline.
  2. Click the little lock icon next to the track name to lock it.

Opening an auto save, creative cloud backup or a backup you made to a separate drive are your options to recover your work.

FAQ: When to use "Save A Copy," or "Save As," and when to simply use "Save"

Check this link on how Premiere copy/pastes.
