Newbie problem - Track Select Forward Tool - Can't Move Single Track Even with Shift Key

Hello folks, hoping you can help me.  I'm learning the tools for PPCC and while I totally get the Track Select Forward Tool, and how it moves multiple tracks, I can't seem to move a SINGLE track over to the right even when I hold down the SHIFT key (which does show me the single arrow).  When I select a track, hold down the shift key and try to move it over to the right a little bit it won't let me - but it will let me move it up or down onto different tracks.  Help!  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Let go of the Shift after you select.

In the latest version of Premiere Pro, holding the shift key down while using the Track Forward tool (or the Selection Tool) to move clips on the timeline restricts clip movement to vertical movements only.

If you wish to move a clip on the timeline horizontally (earlier or later in time) than use the Selection Tool without the shift key.

I believe this functionality was introduced in response to user requests.

Thank you for clarifying that.  But what if I want to move an entire track (just a single one) with all of it's clips left or right without having to individually select each clip on that track?  I thought that was the whole point of Track Select Forward (single)?

BINGO - but you have to let go of the shift key while you are still holding down the click on the clip.  I was letting the click go after letting go of the shift key.  THANK YOU Jim!

Amazing! Thanks. I've watched several tutorials, none of which mention this!

Thanks for the solution. This was not intuitive and it makes the task require additional steps of changing back to the selection tool before moving the track. I really dislike that. I feel it would be better if we could move the track with the same tool we selected it with.

actually you can, after shift-click to select, only let go of shift, not the click.

Is there any way to get the feature back to how it was in CC 2017?

I don't like this new method of having to let go of Shift to move horizontally.

Can I toggle this?

@Ann I have to request a feature that was already in a previous version?

That's pretty asinine.

Edit: I'm loving how fast 2019 and I don't want to roll back because of this.

They should create toggles for everything that they change so people can comfortably work with what they were used to.

Alas some good features disappear.

If you want Adobe to create toggles: let it be known.
