Ooverlay .ai file in Premiere automatically goes transparent

I am importing a file to use as an overlay into premiere. I have tried both .ai and .png files but keep getting the same result. Once I import the file and add it to my sequece it comes up being transparent like someone turned the opacity down but the opacity from the original .ai and in premiere both say opacity is at 100%.

 

This is probably an easy fix, but please help. I'll atttach pictures to help explain. 

The first is the transparent the next is what I want it to be. I've cropped them for my clients privacy.

If the blend mode is Normal:

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

If that doesn't work,try resetting the preferences:

Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
