Place holder from After effects template not going away

i imported an After Effects template, but when i add a new image to the area, some of the placeholders are not going away. it shows the image in the media controler, but the video still has the original color panels i had as a placeholder

Do you have a screenshot? I'm not sure what you mean by "media controler"?
