I re opened a project that I was working on a few hours ago that worked just fine. I was notified of the update to premiere and let it finish downloading/installing before returning to work. When I returned and re opened the project the whole program seemed to run incredibly slow. When I first open the project, the sequence window is simply grey and if I leave it, it will remain this way. If I click on the window the timestamp will show and then slowly load in the other elements of the sequence. If I wait long enough, everything starts to run again except the play head. I can click anywhere in the sequence and the picture will update along with the timestamp and play head in the preview area, but the sequence play head does not update until I hit the spacebar to watch the preview, at which point the play head magically appears in the correct position. Can anyone tell me whats going on? I have restarted my computer several times and confirmed no other programs are running. I can replicate the same results every time. I have a new PC and it runs lightning fast without issue on everything else except this.
I just dug further into the issue and I'm more confused. I created a new project and loaded all of the clips/audio/compositions into it that were in the first project. Everything worked smoothly until I moved from the "assembly" tab and clicked the "editing" tab. Now I cant click back to the assembly tab or any other tab for that matter. What in the world is going on?
Just a hunch but when you open an older project, Premiere Pro will load any workspaces that are associated with that project. Maybe the issue arises there. Start out clean:
Close Premiere Pro.
Go to the following location on your machine:
In Windows, C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\11.0
In Mac, Documents > Adobe > Premiere Pro > 11.0
Rename the 11.0 folder to Old_11.0 (for example).
Launch Premiere Pro and create a new project (do not open old projects).
In the menu bar, choose Window > Workspaces and uncheck Import Workspace from Projects.
Open the old project and check the issue.
SteadyStare: Did my steps fix your issue?
hmm it did not . . .
any other ideas?
