After years of indepentant editing in PPcs4, the timeline self duplicates each time any clip is inserted in Windows 10. Bought a similar proogram with total replacement but having the same problem!
Thank you - my issue was resolved by lowering display resolution on Windows 10!

Try resetting the preferences:

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Thank Peru Bob for responding. After some 10+ years of video editing, I'm at the end of trying to fix my issue with duplicating timelines on CS4, having reset and renewed projects; purchased a second copy of CS4 program; renewed my membership with Adobe to get remote tech support.
Ready to let go my 2 programs in Promiere Pro cs4 and take up DaVince.
Lastly, I'm willing to pay for remote assistance by any CS4 user out there!

purchased a second copy of CS4 program

If you uninstalled and reinstalled, you won't be able to activate it, and it won't work beyond the 30 day trial period.
The CS4 actiation servers have been shut down.

Yes, I did uninstall my old program and reinstalled another CS4 progam from disc with another key code but the issue persists - my timeline duplicates itself each time a new clip is inserted (which demands a reset of workspace each time).
Adobe could not help resolve the issue and I'm seeking an experienced user of CS4 - willing to pay for remote access.
thank you

Hello, Unfortunately Peru Bob did not address my issue with self duplication of the timeline, every time I attempt to insert any clip to the timeline in CS4. Yes, this is old but it worked for years.
Can you help my delemma after 10+ years of editing. Is it time for DaVince?
Last efforts from Hawaii!
