Hello, I've connected a DV camera to this device:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00V2ULHBS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
and from that device to my laptop via an HDMI cable. This is my laptop:

But Adobe Premiere is not seeing the device (see attached screenshot).
Can anyone suggest other actions I can take?
Thanks, Anthony

Alas Premiere will only capture tape over firewire.
Which dv camera do you have? DV usually means mini DV.
Cannot start DV or HDV video capture in Premiere Pro CS4 or later

Hello Ann, yes, mini DV. An old Sony HandCam. Is it possible to add an external firewire device? I have ports for HDMI, USB and Thunderbolt in case. Thanks

I have no idea.
I took an old pc, added a firewire card and captured all my tapes as Premiere is going to drop the feature with version 24.

I use the capture feature all the time (when it works!!!) When is Premiere 24 coming out? That is when I will stop subscribing if there will no longer be a capture feature.

Guessing soon.
If there is no more capture feature, what are you going to use instead for editing?
Most well known editing software don't have the capture capability anymore.
You can use WinDV or HDVSplit 0.77 beta
