Premiere crashes on m1 pro no playback

Hi, 

Just purchased a macbook pro with M1 PRO chip (16gb ram) ive been using it for just over a week and all has been fine, today i have been trying to edit a project that cinsits of a couple of .mov AE renders that i am just re-timing slightly and despite this working fine when i initially did it, now PP keeps crashing....

I can make a few adjustments but after a few min i realise clicking playback does nothing and scrubbing doesnt change the program monitor despite the playhead moving fine. 

it will let me save work ect, but then when i quit the program goes unresponsive and i have to force quit. 

Is it time to say goodbye to expensive monthly fees for a program that has more bugs than an ant farm?

feeling very frustrated with both adobe and apple at the moment. 😞

oh, and should mention the CPU usage spikes upto around 120% somehow to!
