Premiere crashing and not playing back

I'm tearing my hair out here at trying to get premiere to work.

Constant crashing and I've tried everything, installed an older version, cleared cache 5/6 times everything.

I have managed to get it to not crash for about 5 minutes at a time but it will not playback or scrub through any footage.

There is a lot of footage at 4k but it should be fine, my pc specs are more than adequate.

I've even enabled proxies and my playback resolution is as low as it will possibly go.

Is there any way to fix this? It's driving me mad. Do i need to downscale my footage and accept that 4k just isnt going to happen for me for some unknown reason? Is there even a way to do that in premiere without it looking awful?

Probably put your settings under the Wrench menu of the program monitor to High Quality Playback and both paused and playback resolution to full. I've not seen those help anyone with a problem similar to yours.

Give us some hardware hints, other than 'more than adequate'. PC, Mac, etc... It will give you time to glue your hair back while you give us your hardware info. Also, what type of media? From a phone, camera, etc.. h.264/5? Give us some specifics of things to go with...

I would have assumed higher quality playback would make it harder to run? I'll give it a go though.

Did you try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None?

Or updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver)?

If that didn't work, did you try creating a new project and import the old one into it?

Does the crashing have to do with memory usage? That is my problem. Memory usage keeps climbing passed 100gb and then crashes. Tried reinstalling, imported sequence into other project, cleared cache. Seriously, what the heck is going on with this??
