Premiere hates timelapses?

i regularly do timelapses of my artwork for social media

the way i do it is a record about 4 hours of footage with a dslr, then create a sequence in premiere, nest the footage and speed it up so the video is about 3 minutes long

premiere seems to hate this,  it often plays back very choppy  (which i dont mind too much, because i dont need to watch it) but i dont think it should be doing this.

then it crashes ,  guaranteed several times per session. often this means the program just vanished into thin air without any warning, even in the middle of an export.

kind of frustrating

i have a pretty good machine i think

Changing speed on nested sequences can be problematic. Instead of nesting, export the sequence to either CineForm or ProRes and import that file and place it on a new sequence. Change the speed of that clip and export it to your preferred format. In the Speed dialog, make sure to change Time Interpolation from Frame Sampling to Optical Flow.
