I have found Premiere to be almost unusable more often than not. It just stalls and lags.
I have a session that's 4K 25fps. No mixed frame rates. It just lags / stalls. I can't edit properly. I edit on a Macbook Pro 2019, 2.4Ghz 8-Core i9 / 64GB RAM / AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB.
I produce music and this MBP can handle MASSIVE sessions and so I know that the computer is up to task. What could I be doing wrong?

6k long-GOP files?
That would be a freaking chore for my desktop ... 24 3960x, 128Gb of RAM, a 2080Ti, and all OS and projects/cache/media on different internal SSD drives.
I work with a lot of colorists daily, who have machines that typically make mine look positively cheap & anemic. They'd either transcode that or make proxies as the first part of the job.
