Hi, I have just upgraded to Pr 15.4 for the exciting new captions update.

However, on opening a new project, premiere pro become completely unresponsive. I added a tiny mp3 track, about 0.5mb, and that was enough to completely stall it. I have 16GB of ram, 13 of which are allocated to Pr, and my HD has 250+ GB space.

I've restarted, and my windows OS is up to date.

any ideas?

Hi there!

Sorry to hear that. Does it happen with a specific project? Could you try deleting cache files and see if that helps?

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Hi Kartika,

Happens with every project, even new projects with no media.

I've cleared the media cache, and clicking any of the menus at the top causes the program to become unresponsive as in picture attached. I'm just trying to edit some basic audio with the blade tool but even that has become impossible.

Any ideas on what I can do?

Hi Cormac,

Could you share your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS)? Do you use any third-party plug-ins? Also, have you tried resetting the preference of Premiere Pro: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/...

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hi Nishu,

Thanks for your response.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7920HQ CPU @ 3.10GHz 3.10 GHz

GPU:

RAM: 16GB

OS: Windows 10 Enterprise 19043.1110

I don't use any 3rd Party plug-ins and I have reset the preferences as suggested but it is still sluggish. Once I go to open a menu, the programme freezes and my whole computer hangs or gets very slow.

Any suggestions for this?

Kind regards,

Cormac
