Premiere Pro 2020 won't recognise Sony Z1 camera in capture mode

Hi there

Although I have in the past been able to capture HDV material from my old Sony Z1 in Premiere Pro, this time I'm having no luck. It simply doesn't recognise the camera and gives me a greyed out zone where the record button would normally be. If I go into 'capture settings' it crashes Pro with the following message: 'Sorry, a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. we will attempt to save your current project'.  This happens every time I try.

I've tried different output settings on the camera. I remember that being an issue once.

MacBook Pro (late 2013)

Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6

Premiere Pro 2020

Any thoughts?

thanks!

Barney

Well, I'm replying to my own post here. I've managed to import the DV material via iMovie. It's not very sophisticated but it works well enough. If anyone knows how to get Premiere to do it, let me know if you've got the time! Thanks.
