Hi!
I need to add subtitles to the movie I am working on and I've recived srt file but once I import it, it doesn't cover the whole movie. It imports less than half. Just out of curiosity I asked a colleague to import that same srt file using Premiere Pro 2018 and it loaded the whole subtitle properly - which means srt file is ok. How do I fix this problem in Premiere 2023 ?
Thank you in advance.
This is a codification problem on the file. Open the .srt file on the notepad, click Save as, change the codification from ANSI to UTF8 and save. Now convert this new .txt file back to an .srt file (i used an online subtitle converter). Problem solved.

It doesn't necessarily mean that the srt is ok for the new PR captions workflow. But importing to 2019 does argue against some of the more common problems.
This problem is almost always because there is an extra blank line or a character that PR won't process. In the SRT file, look at the caption immediately after the last one that imports.
Let us know; we can help troubleshoot this.

I checked, everything seems how it should be, no blank lines, the only possible issue was letters such as "č,đ,ž" but I removed them and the issue persisted.

That was worth a try. Did it change which caption was the last to load?

Unfortunately no 😅 it was still the same.

During this issue I was paying attention only to croatian laters such as č,ć,đ but in the end the problem was one leter in german last name - ö. So once I removed it, srt was finally imported properly. Such a relief 😅

Congratulations on finding the problem!

For me what did the trick was removing all punctuation marks such as á, é, não (very common in all romantic languages such as Portuguese, Spanish, French, etc.
Then I had to make them right again by editing all subs within the caption window in Premiere.
Not ideal, but at least I didn`t have to write (and time stamp) all subs again...
