premiere pro 2025 - (Windows machine) while playing/editing multitrack timeline - this is where the scrubber is moving/playing the video then you select which source - - audio get choppy then lost after 30-40 seconds. If you stop the play - then restart - it works again until 30-40 seconds. I've added latency in the audio hardware, deleted cache etc (machine has 128GB of ram / Threadripper etc) - nothing seems to help - - - help pls

Check the Audio Hardware Preferences. Default Audio Input should be set to No Input.

I did have that in that setting. I've now discovered that if I 'render' the sound on the timeline - this apparently solves this issue - - ...is this rendering required then?

Evidently, yes, in your case.

If you're needing to render audio to get smooth playback, it likely means there are effects applied or mixed channels within your multicam sequence. To improve real-time performance without rendering:
This approach reduces the processing load and helps maintain consistent playback without audio dropouts.

Thanks for the feedback - appreciate it.
So what I had done - was import the FX6 audio tracks (8) and another cameras two stereo into the multitrack (I used markers to sync), but I only selected/used one FX6 track in the timeline - the rest were deleted or turned off. If I understand you correctly - is that I should delete all these tracks, and then drag in the audio from the original source and not use any audio that was part of the original multitrack?

To help narrow down what's causing the audio dropout, here are a few questions about your sequence setup:
If possible, please share a screenshot of your multitrack timeline - this can help clarify the setup and make it easier to troubleshoot.

So I have two sources - - a stero track, and an 8 channel track.
First I select 'modify clip' and select 'preset' to mono; then do the same on the 8 track clip - then also select the first two media source channels, click off the rest. When I open the 'create multical sequence' - select audio channel preset mono. In the first large segment - I must have gotten it out of sequence. Don't understand why it's necessary to modify audio first when the program offers auto. I have another long clip to do - so will see if things continue to work
