Premiere pro 2025 won't open or recognize any files on my pc

Hey,
So like the title says I am not able to import any files of sorts into my premiere pro(not even giving me an error code just gives me the red error symbol on my mouse when trying to drag the video in). Despite it being not corrupted/damaged, it's the standard codec of H.264 & mp4 file. Tried converting it online to mp4 with same result. Renaming it and relocating it between different storages to no avail. Tried DaVinci to compare and same result happens there. Funny enough my PS and AI recognized all my files on pc videos/pictures all, but not my video editing softwares. I record through OBS - everything updated to the latest versions(including potential drivers). I sent the video to a friend and he was able to open it without any problems. Uninstall and restart of pc tried still no positives there. I use VLC media player which is amazing so i dont see that as a problem. Is it deeper with it being something directly with my pc build?? or something inside OBS where i record of an option i'm not aware of?? So weird as this has never happened to me before... All help is grateful! Lmk the information you need to help me figure this out and ill send it. Just make sure to lmk how i can attain that information that you might need. I read an old post about a plugin being a problem (think it was a sony plugin, but i dont have any sorts of sony plugin) i do have plugins but i dont know if they interfere somehow. Ill attach a file under from my system that i want to work on.

Thanks for that information!

For some weird reason Premiere works now. Still not able to drag it in but after creating a sequence/project i'm able to import it now. Not sure how that changed to work. DaVinci still dont take the import or drag in option either but yeah. Not complaining as long as it stays like this ahah.

You say you're drag/dropping, have you tried the Import page and simply select/import?

Well thats the thing, it wont even recognize my files on PC. So, when i try to import and i go to the folder with my mp4 video file inside it, the software dont "see" it. I dont even get the option to import as the files are like "invisible", but i clearly see them through the file explorer on the side. This goes for all files tho -  mp4, mkv, avi, quicktime movie and etc.

There can also be times where folder permissions have changed and can block Premiere from accessing the contents.

I checked this through app permissions on my system and everything is accessible for all apps i have.  Documents, file system, video and so on.

Already cleared the media cache file did not work, did the reset and pretty much click all the boxes excpet the last one being something about rendering. No luck here. If it is worth mentioning i did download premiere quite recently so i havent really added anything of my personal preferences to it or plugins or any of that sort.

This sounds exactly like the behavior of a permissions issue. At this time, I don't think Premiere is "allowed" to see those files. So you would have to check that in Explorer's file permission's settings.

Is this where you mean I should be checking? I dont really know where else to see exactly what you mean, but through permission the file system is accessible and the video folder itself show the properties of being accessible as well unless im understanding this wrong?

@Wågan,

Win 10; PR 25.2.3. Your sample file imported without problem - both by dragging it to the project panel and by importing via Media Browser.

It has 5 stereo audio tracks, but otherwise looks unremarkable in MediaInfo.
