Hi, I do have a big problem with an old project.

Since I upgraded to 24.1 I could open the projects latest version without any problem, I was working on it for appr. 30 min. than Premiere crashed. On reopening it immediately crashed again and told me to upgrade to version 24.1 which I have. Then I tried to open an older version, same thing. I deinstalled 24.1 and tried to open older files with 23.0 I got a little further (to search routine of media files) but when finished it crashed again.

What can I do because I do not start with this project from scratch because I already pu a lot of work in it.

Any help welcon. Thank you

Philip

Hi Philip!

Sorry about the crash. Does it happen with a specific project? Do you get any error codes or messages? Can you check if crash reports are saved? https://adobe.ly/3tvucLl

Let us know.

Thanks,

KR

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-clear-your-media-cache-in-30-seconds-in-premi...

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/...

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver).

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

I tried all your hints step by step except the last. At the first time after I cleared the media cache I could at least start the project but during loading the media files it crashed again and since then it always crashes directly after opening the project (always with crash report).

Regarding the last hint: how can I import one project into another?

Thanks for replying

Philip

That may not be enough free space for system and temp files.

Where are the media cache files located?

What are the complete computer specs, including hard drives (how many, what kind, what is on each, what capacity, and how full)?
