Premiere pro automatically shortens sequence after import

Hey all, 

 

I'm currently trying to cut a short video of 36 seconds. After importing my footage into premiere pro the clip gets shortened to only half of its lengths (around 17 sec). Around the first half of the video is just cut off and I don't know why. The speed setting and everything is normal (100 %) and the first half of the video is really missing. It is not possible to extend the sequence using the mouse. 

 

Any ideas?

Many users are having issues with VFR. If the file is variable frame rate, use Handbrake to convert to constant frame rate:
