Hello there,
I've just built a new PC for running the Adobe suite and got started with PP right away since my laptop has become too slow.
System specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VII X470
RAM: Corsair 2x 16GB 3200MHz
GPU: MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z
SSD: Crucial MX500
OS: Windows 10 Pro
The problem:
Everyting works just fine (really quick and snappy) with 1 to 3 clips loaded in the libary. After I add a 4th clip to the libary, PP hangs as soon as I go the 'color' tab (the rest works just fine). Some functions like playback still work, but can't switch back to any other tabs, nor does the 'color' tab itself work anymore.
I tried:
Cleared the cache folders.
Switched to 'All panels' workspace.
Turning off CUDA acceleration.
Reinstall PP after I used the Adobe CC cleaner.
Reinstall Windows 10 with only updated GPU and morherboard drivers, used PP with default settings.
Nothings works so far and as far as I know, I've ran out of options. Please help.

After further testing and searching, the problem seems to be some sort of memory leak. Task manager shows an excessive use of 21GB RAM when I've imported 4 small clips to a project. This happens with CC2019 and CC2018, where CC2017 works just fine regardless of the settings used. Is anyone familiar with this problem?

Are you actually using the Library, which is a specific feature of Premiere Pro, or are you just importing footage into a bin?
What camera was used to record the footage?

Thanks for you reply. I use the Assembly tab -> Media browser (not libary) to import files. I mixed up terms here. The files I use are *.mp4 4K 60mpbs files from the DJI Mavic Pro.
All functions work just fine, until I go to the 'color' tab when 4 files or more are imported. PP doesn't hang completely as I can still play the content from the timeline. I just can't select anything else. This applies to CC 2019 and CC 2018. CC 2017 has no problems.

They seem to have just dropped a new update, with among other things ProRes encoding for Pc's ... nifty ...
Does that new release fix the issue for you?

I installed the update and for my problem it did nothing. I discovered something else instead. The problem only occurs when I run PP in a maximized or near maximized window. As soon as the window size drops below 90% (approx) the problem is gone and everything works just fine. It's getting freaky now...

That size thing is freaky ... huh. Do you have your monitor scaled to anything other than 100%?

So the issue has been resolved (not with DaVinci). After some further troubleshooting I ended up in the property screen of the desktop shortcut. All I had to do was to switch on 'disable fullscreen optimizations' to get rid of the problem!

Thanks for the info and update, Sven,
Good investigative work. Will keep an eye on this and will do some more investigation on my side.

OK.
My first thought is as Neil suggests. Upgrade to 13.0.2, see if that helps. Report back.

You probably missed it, but my last reply began with;
I installed the update and for my problem it did nothing.
Can happen ofcourse 🙂 Still stuck though!

Hi Sven,
Does this only occur with the DJI files? Are other formats performing as expected?
Are you able or interested in sharing those 4 files?
