Premiere Pro free rights usage in short film

New Here ,
Jan 23, 2024 Jan 23, 2024

I am a filmmaker and I am making a short film about an editor. There will be many shorts of hiim editing, and since it is industry standard, I want him on Premiere Pro. I looked up the fair usage policy, but that doesn't seem to answer for people depicting the logo in a film. For reference, this short will be submitted to festivals, but will not make money.

Is it legal to show the Premiere Pro logo and application within the context of a short film under these conditions?

For just showing the editor at work on Premiere, nothing would be needed ... that's done all the time of course all over web, streaming, and other usage.

To show the Adobe PrPro logo as a screen by itself ... that would be like Peru Bob suggests, something to get advice about doing.

@Kevin-Monahan  ... what's the protocols for this type of use?

Hi @Wes34984338oltm,

You can check out this web page: https://www.adobe.com/legal/permissions.html. That should guide you. As far as specific advice, most of the people I could ask about this are at Sundance right now. If I could ask for your patience, I could probably get more concise info for you. It may take some time. Would that be OK?

Thanks,
Kevin

I would suggest consulting an attorney.

Hello,

I apologize for the delayed reply, I was on set the last week. The web page is very helpful. I think I have what I need, we will likely just show the editing framework with our clips, but without including any Adobe logos.

I really appreciate all of your help!

Hi @Peru Bob,

Weird. I have it working here. Wonder what's up there? I'll ask around.

@Kevin-Monahan

I tried it just now and it works.

Maybe it was down earlier.
