I often animate still images used in my projects. To do so I use an After Effects plugin called Quick Depth which uses AI to generate a depth map, so I apply a displacement map to another instance of the image and animate it using the first one's depth map to make it a parallax animation. After the animation is done I HAVE to render it out via Ae because if I go back to Premiere Pro and try using the Ae layer created with the Replace with After Effects composition function, Premiere Pro's program monitor either drops dead or Premiere Pro just hangs and you cannot fix it by just restarting - you have to terminate the running After Effects process as well. Within Ae this Ai plugin works realtime (my PC is fast enough for that), but should I go back to Premiere Pro the whole process just stops unless I Ctrl+Z the creation of this Ae layer.
Is there a chance this may be fixed somehow? Because right now I have to render the file from Ae and cancel the Ae layer in Premiere Pro everytime I use this method to animate the stills which actually reduces to zero the benefit of Dynamic link...
Another thing - sure, I tried to Render and replace the Ae layer after I'd gone back to Premiere Pro, but in this case I always got a transcode error saying Premiere Pro couldn't match the frame size. But how the frame size can become different if I use Replace with After Effects composition which should use the same frame size as in a Premiere Pro project... Nonetheless I even tried putting the Ae stills in a separate precomposition and this didn't help either...ā
Any suggestions?ā

Does Premiere run without the plugin in Ae?

Yes. Problems only come after an AI plugin is used.
