Make sure Windows is fully updated.

If that doesn'tr work, try uninstalling, using the Cleaner Tool, and reinstalling:

Windows 10 is updated. Uninstalled premiere. Rebooted. Uninstalled cloud. Rebooted. Ran that cleaner tool in dos.. option 1 for "all". Rebooted. Installed cloud. Rebooted. Installed premiere, rebooted. Go to run premiere in cloud or windows start menu shortcut, same thing as before. Error,

adobe premiere pro.exe application error the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)

If you're in the cloud it doesn't show the message, you click and it tries and doesn't start. But if you try the windows start button menu shortcut for premiere, then you get the error window.

What do I do next? Do I get you that log file it did when running the cleanup? I could uninstall, run it again to get it.

ok I'll take a look at that this weekend. Was searching the forum here for that error, seems more of a Windows thing than Adobe. So I ask Bing AI.

You
Paid 30 bucks a month to use adobe premiere video editor. Pass the cloud check. Install it. Get this "the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)" error on launch. Can't run it. I ask in the adobe forum, somebody who knows what their doing suggests running this "AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe". I uninstall premiere and media encoder. Reboot. Run this "AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe" right click run as system administrator. You can select different program types, I did "all" for the two times it asked things. I check the folder of c/program files/adobe, it got removed. He said, ok try installing it again the premiere. I did and same thing. Searching in this adobe forum for 0xc0000142, seems like it's not just premiere that has this error. Other programs get it. Seems like a "windows" type of problem. What does this error mean? Like what's wrong, it's trying to launch and run and something's bad. I tried running the sister program it comes with, media encoder on it's own, same error. I go to where the premiere exe file is to run it, right click, run as system administrator. Same error. Try the compatibility tab, it was checked off for windows 7. Try it unchecked, same thing. I'm running windows 10, it's updated. Used to have windows 7 from genuine dvd and took the free upgrade last year. What is this error, what's "wrong. I got good computer specs. 3ghz quad core, 16gb ram. 200 GB SSD hard drive. It has 95 GB clear so lots of room. Have a backup 1TB, 7200 rpm hard drive for extra data. Video card is good.. Nvidia GTX 960 with 4GB ram and a fan. Specs are ok. So what's this (0xc0000142)" error going on. Paying adobe to pass the cloud check. Using their download. The forum, I check the URL, that cleaner tool was hosted on the adobe site.

The error code 0xc0000142 typically indicates that an application was unable to start correctly, often due to a problem with the initialization of a DLL file. This can be caused by a variety of issues, such as corrupted or missing DLL files, compatibility iss...12.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this error:

  1. Run the Application as an Administrator: You’ve mentioned trying this, but ensure you’re doing it for all related executables.
  2. Compatibility Mode: It seems you’ve also attempted this. Make sure to try different compatibility settings, not just Windows 7.
  3. Update Windows: Ensure that your Windows 10 is fully updated, as missing updates can sometimes cause these issues.
  4. Reinstall Visual C++ Redistributable: This error can sometimes be related to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package. Try repairing or reinstalling it.
  5. Check for Corrupted Files: Use the System File Checker (SFC) tool to scan for and restore corrupted Windows system files. You can do this by running sfc /scannow in the Command Prompt (admin).
  6. Check Disk for Errors: Run a disk check by using the chkdsk command in the Command Prompt (admin).
  7. Clean Boot: Perform a clean boot to see if there’s a service or startup item causing this issue.

If none of these steps work, it might be necessary to consult with a professional or reach out to Adobe Support for further assistance. Remember to back up your important data before making any significant changes to your system. If you’re uncomfortable performing these steps on your own, it may be best to seek help from a professional technician.

Anyways, thanks for that tip the other day about the cleaner tool. Ran it again with right click run as administrator. Same thing, but got that log file. I'll attach that. Maybe you can see some clue in there as to what's wrong.

Gonna take a look at what Bing AI said here.. maybe the "Reinstall Visual C++ Redistributable: " If I check in add remove programs there's a few of those when trying to get some programs going. There's like 7 of them in the uninstall list.

Like what the hell is going on with this error.. what's it mean that's wrong? When I uninstall, I check the program files and there's no more previous adobe folder or files. I also looked for others who had this error and was contemplaing erasing my hard drive and re-installing windows.. but saw others who tried and still doesn't work. Like that's a major hassle.

The error 0xc0000142 that you’re experiencing with Adobe Premiere could indeed be related to the Windows Update error 0x80070643. While the update error is generally associated with issues in the update process itself, it can some...1.

The steps you’ve taken so far, such as using the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and running the application as an administrator, were appropriate. However, if these steps haven’t resolved the issue, and considering the Windows Update error you’re also facing, it’s possible that there are system-level issues affecting the functionality of your software.

Here are some additional steps you can consider:

  1. Check for .NET Framework Issues:

    • Use the .NET Framework Repair Tool, which can be downloaded from Microsoft’s official website.
    • After running the tool, try launching Adobe Premiere again.
  2. Perform a Clean Installation of Adobe Premiere:

    • Uninstall Adobe Premiere using the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
    • Reboot your system.
    • Reinstall Adobe Premiere from the Creative Cloud app.
  3. Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers:

    • Sometimes, outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause issues with video editing software.
    • Visit the NVIDIA website to download and install the latest drivers for your GTX 960.
  4. Check for Conflicting Software:

    • Other software on your system might be conflicting with Adobe Premiere.
    • Perform a clean boot to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This can help you determine if there’s a software conflict.
  5. Consult Adobe Support:

    • If the issue persists, reaching out to Adobe Support could provide more targeted troubleshooting for Premiere-specific issues.

It’s important to note that while these steps may help resolve the issue with Adobe Premiere, they might not address the Windows Update error. For that, you may need to follow the guidance provided by Microsoft or seek assistance from a professional technician to ensure that your system is properly updated and secured.

Remember to back up your important data before making any significant changes to your system. If you’re uncomfortable performing these steps on your own, it may be best to seek help from a professional technician.

Wondered about trying to see if I could install an older version of Premiere. In the cloud app, Premiere, the 3 dots, "other versions". Doesn't go back too much. I go to the oldest, which is Premiere v23. Install that, and it installs media encoder that's also an older version.

I go to run Premiere and it launches. I'm in there, the "learn" "edit" panel of "looking for new tutorials" keeps trying to load up stuff but there's nothing. You can't stop it. Keeps trying to load things. Whatever.. I just go to the import tab and that tutorial search goes away.

Tried running the media encoder from the windows start menu shortcut and that loads too.

So this is really good news, that I don't have to screw around with all those problems I was looking at dealing with, trying to get it running.

Somebody was asking:
tiffanyb66796762

New Here , Jun 25, 2024

Same here.  Did you find a solution?

And I get an email.. check here, see your post, Lillian37699180y0w5. They were wondering about Premiere, I just installed the oldest version it had when you go to install. They're not that old either. But it worked. So that's been going fine.

But you mention Photoshop. Just a couple weekends ago, I pay the man.. go to install it and it wouldn't run after. This was a doozy. I try the same thing as Premiere, with the installing the oldest version they had. Then when going to run it after installing, it would say more what the windows error was about.

Did a lot of research, was in here too.. they talked about how you'd have to download a zip of half a dozen dll's. Add those to the photoshop directory after installing. Then it had a different message when going to run. Couldn't do it.

Looking into it, you have to buy a new computer. I got good specs too. It's running damn Premiere, which should be more demanding, right. Video, not just still images. Whatever. Next day I cancelled and got the photoshop money back.

You gotta watch these plans too. If you pay by the month, it was almost twice as much as if you'd do the whole year, but you can choose for them to still bill you by the month. Got my money back though and pro-rated, but it was just like the next day.

So I don't know what's going on with you. My comp is ok. 3ghz quad core, 16gb ram. Got an ok video card, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960, 4gb ram, has a fan on it. My hard drive is SSD 200GB. So not a bad 7200 rpm spin drive. Have a 1TB 7200 rpm backup drive on the comp though. So I can do stuff and it's fast, there's not much waiting.

But you gotta get a brand new, it seems like the processor.

Let me check my browser history for what those error messages said. When you install the latest photoshop, it wouldn't say anything in the windows error when you try to run photoshop. I installed the oldest version, then it would have more info about what the error was.

Checking my browser history.. seems to be:

"Error at loading of ippCV library. Your application is dynamically linked with Intel(R) IPP libraries version 2021.6 (rOxbffe3c5b) No DLL from the list below is found on the system search path: ippcvm7.dll (the most suitable for your CPU) Please provide a path to at least one of them".

Checking a thread here.. somebody saying "If my 6 core 3GHz 16GB CPU really no longer works with PS that is about the most bogus thing I ever heard." So like what do you need to run this, right.

Then I was doing what they said, in the thread here at community adobe.. to download the zip of those dll's. Put them in the photoshop folder. After that, going to run photoshop, I'd get this windows error saying:

"error of loading of ippCV library. ippiPyramidGetSize_L: The specified process was not found."

So I couldn't work around it, and I know a bit about computers.. got my first one in April, 1997. Went at it pretty good trying to figure out this one, using up too much of that weekend. It sounds like you gotta get a damn quantum computer to run photoshop these days. haha. Wait till those come out in 2030, then you can run their photoshop.

Recently, Premiere Pro and After Effects suddenly stopped working on my computer. I got the same message: the application was unable to start correctly (oxcoooo142) adobe premiere pro. We tried everything. Windows was updated, so that wasn't it. I constacted Adobe thru the chat feature and the agent fixed the problem by basically going in and creating another user on my machine and performed a clean install of Premiere Pro and After Effects. It started working perfectly after that.

So here I am again...  After a tech person from Adobe performed a clean install of Premiere Pro and After Effects, it only worked for ONE DAY.  After Effects continues to work fine, but my Premiere Pro won't open and I continue to get an error message:   the application was unable to start correctly (oxcoooo142).  So I contacted Adobe AGAIN.  I had a new tech guy remote in and he spent about 2 hours on my computer and really didn't do much of anything.  Nothing fixed.  He finally just logged off!   I edit videos for a living, so this is driving me crazy...

Hi Amy.. I'm paying like what.. 30 bucks a month, eh.. for the Premiere, for video editing. I couldn't run the most recent, but ran this older version. They don't go back that far too in their options for installing later versions. But I explained what happened and which one I ran. So it's been ok. I don't care if I don't have any latest bells and whistles. It's been going good and it runs.

Sounds like you got a different snafu though.. cause I was never able to run the latest, even once. Sounds like you ran it but later it crapped out! I don't do After effects.

So I don't know what's going on with your error, might be a different type than what I had.

But I was dealing with some interesting snafus past couple months with just windows update. I'm still running 10. I think I mentioned my comp specs which are still good these days. But this past summer.. like couple months ago, just doing the normal windows updates, it always reminds you of.. and like this cumulative one and it'd go to reboot and install and it'd say, oh we can't do it. I was able to put it off by setting it to calm down for a month. But in Oct it went.. no you can't put it off. Wasn't able to run it.

Last weekend, I had time and was doing what the microsoft support forum guy who knows his stuff said.. dos commands.. lol.. administrator settings. I tried all those. Like first, it was this basic system settings of just have it try the trouble shooter. Run that and it went, oh we found something and fixed it. Then updates downloading was taking like a while. After.. same thing on reboot where it reverts changes. That admin guy's later suggestions in that other person's same problem, post.. was like.. get the windows media creation tool. Which would be like.. ok it's gonna re-install the whole damn windows 10. But that's ok cause it keeps my personal settings, right. Even sites logged in. But if fixes any snafus. I backed up my data anyways before, in case of whatever. Then it does all that.. I try the updates and it worked. So now it was all good. So.. I'm good, eh. This wasn't related to adobe problems.. I haven't tried installing that lastest premiere though.. I don't need it. Like let me check the version I'm running that works fine. ok.. fired it up.. check "about".. says version 23.0.0 (build 63). Then it also says oh your new features are ready.. and it wants to update.. but somewhere in the settings like maybe that thing by the clock there.. taskbar icon.. I have that off and don't see the icon. In that whole lot there.. I had it.. don't update things. lol. So it doesn't even show up when I boot up.

Let me check that thing again.. fire it up from the start button icons. Yeah, the adobe creative cloud. Let me fire it up and see how I turned off that clock icon thing and how it's like.. don't update things. Oh it says creative cloud update available. And can't even go next.. just this switch for "always keep creative cloud up to date" and tried switching it off.. but only button around there too is "update". Not gonna mess with this.. but it was in that preferences for premiere, where I switch it off for these damn updates. Cause I couldn't run the lastest one. You know what I mean.

You got a different problem.. but maybe try what I'm doing. lol.

ok hang on.. after firing up that creative cloud thing by the clock. That icon was there, eh. And it wanted to update. No other options, so I'm there.. ok update then. Now it's fired up, but I don't need that by the clock all the time. Top left those 3 horizontal lines, icon.. I go to file, then preferences. Settings, "launch creative cloud at login" and "run creative cloud in the background after closing". I got both those switches off. And in the "settings" of this creative cloud.. there's this "apps", under "general".. In the apps is this switch for "show older apps", I have that on. And then the "auto-update" switch, that's off. Like who even needs any of this intrusive creative cloud, stuff. I'll just run the damn program.

ok so how I got the older version of premiere.. back to the main cloud area where it says the programs.. I see the most recent one, eh.. this v25 of premiere pro. There's this "other version" below that. Let me check there.. Click that.. then older versions.. I think I got the oldest one but it's like what.. from last year. The 23.0. So try that. It's like they got bugs with newest stuff, eh. Where they don't test things out with all the various types of computer hardware configurations people can put together.
