Premiere Pro lagging on playback

Since the last update PP (24.5.0 Build 57) is severely lagging on playback, even on 1/4 quality. It's especially bad on .mov files. No effects applied. 1920:1080p files rendered from AE. It's smoother when rendered but I don't usually have to render for it to play back.

I'm using a 3 month old Macbook Pro M3 Max (Sonoma 14.5). I doubt the laptop is the issue as AE is running fine.

Any ideas on how to fix?

Hi @Sophie38429735plqc - Can you check in your settings under Audio Hardware that your default input is set to "No Input" let us know if that helps you.
