Premiere Pro - multi-channel audio changes not taking effect

Hi. I'm working on a sound mix for a film.

When I swap out audio channels, the waveform in the timeline updates, but the audio is not changing immediately...

If I close the session and reopen it, the proper audio will be loaded up.

I'm 100% certain this is a bug. Does anyone know iff anything on my end is causing it?

Everything on a sequence is metadata. From the clips involved, their in/out points, and all effects. It's all metadata that is used to display the sequence.

So your changes apparently aren't being instantly changed in the metadata of the sequence, which is a right royal pain. And unfortunately, PrPro doesn't have a 'refresh' feature, which would be handy for so many things.

Like ... create a LUT from a Lumetri instance, exporting it to the proper User folder tree. It won't be seen by PrPro until you exit/reopen the app, as that is when it refreshes the list of installed things.

It shouldn't do that with timeline changes, which is what you're doing, right? Simply changing something in a timeline?

The editor cut the entire film with the default audio channels chosen. There are cleaner takes. So I...

right-click a clip >  audio channels > change the media source channel

It's weird because the channels sometimes update, and other times don't. It's super frustrating though, because I'm on a deadline.

So you're choosing a different channel within a clip? Say it's got six channels, and you're changing from 1/2 to 5/6?

Anything done via the Modify/Interpret dialog often will not apply to current clips on a timeline unless you close/reopen the project. And some things don't then. Because they try to reduce errors or problems when something is changed for a later sequence from affecting previously made sequences. When you don't want that previous sequence to change.

So for that sort of change, you would need to make the Modify/Interpret change in the bin, then replace the audio clip on the sequence with the audio clip from the bin.

Hmm. Is there anyoher workaround?

Is it possible to reload every channel of audio for individual clips?

To just replace the audio for that clip from the bin, perhaps Alt-click on the audio in the timeline, then Alt-drag the clip from the bin over to the timeline ... that might work.

Just discovered a workaround/glitch in the matrix!

If you preview the media source channel that you want, the clip on the timeline will be updated.

Correction: you can preview any media source channel, then the change will set.
