Premiere Pro not opening - need urgent help!

As the title says, I cannot open Premiere Pro. It shows the splash screen, but after about six seconds, it disappears and nothing else pops up - not even any crash reports. I have tried practically anything I could think of, and followed steps from the official "How to fix Premiere Pro crash issues". Here are some of the things I've tried...

  • restarting my PC

  • updating my graphics drivers

  • reinstalling the program

  • opening previous versions of Premiere Pro

  • opening via shortcuts, the Creative Cloud, and a project file

  • opening as an administrator, as well as messing with other compatibility settings

  • manually cleaning media cache

...all to no avail.

Below are my specs:

System: Windows 11

Graphics Card: ASUS Radeon RX 6750 XT 12GB

RAM: 32 GB

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 AM4

For reference, the main version of Premiere I am trying to run is the latest one (23.4)

I would be extremely grateful for any help at all! Thank you! 🙂

The Nvidia Control Panel and all things Nvidia should have been in the "Installed apps" section under Apps in Settings. Please do uninstall all of the apps that say "NVIDIA" by running the Uninstall feature (click on the three dots, then click Uninstall).

I had the same problem and it has taken me a month to figure it out.  Tonight I uninstalled my Black Magic apps and now Premiere Pro 2024 loads. I hope that this post helps others with the problem.

Hey WaterSpace,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. I have moved your post to the Discussions section for troubleshooting. Please launch Premiere Pro with the Alt key pressed and select the Disable Third-party plugins (one-time only) option. Let us know if you still see the issue.

Thanks,

Ishan

Good afternoon!

I have tried opening the app with the ALT key, and the same thing happens. It is not showing up with any options, it just does the same thing.
I tried opening a different app like Photoshop with the ALT key but it just opened normally without any prompts popping up.

You can try holding Ctrl, Shift, or Alt to enable the Reset Options menu. Please check out this video and try again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdpG79no3oQ&t=2s

None of the options work, unfortunately.

I have tried holding ALT, CTRL, and SHIFT separately and together, and none of that works. The other option where I go to preferences manually in CC also does not work as I cannot find such place in the settings.

Could you temporarily move all contents from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore to another location and try relaunching Premiere Pro? If you're still unable to load load past the splash screen please follow the steps mentioned in this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/adobe-creative-cloud-diagnostics.html

I have moved the contents of that folder to a temporary folder elsewhere and the same thing occurs. I have also tried moving the whole 7.0 folder entirely, as well as all folders in the Plug-ins folder, just to see if that changes anything, but no. The issue is still the same.

Did you recently install an app or utility? Do you have any controllers, control surfaces, or panels?

No, I have not installed any non-Adobe apps from what I can think of.

The last time I ran Premiere Pro properly was when I had my previous graphics card, and that is the one main thing I remember changing since my last running of the program. I doubt that is the issue though since CC says the app should "work on this computer" and in the list of compatible GPUs on te Adobe website, my new one is on the list.

As for controllers, what do you mean by this? I do not think that is the case, though.

I have the exact same problem. It worked fine until today, I updated windows yesterday, maybe it has something to do with that. And my laptop also has similar specs to yours.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Could you share more details? Is Premiere Pro stuck on the splash screen, or are you unable to see the splash screen as well?

Yes, the splash screen is visible for a few seconds before disappearing. It does not say it is loading anything, either.

Exactly, the splash screen is visible for a few seconds and then it disappears without opening Premiere and with no error message.

We have the same issue with this computer:
Dell XPS 15 9520
Intel Core i7-12700H
NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3050 Ti
32 GB RAM
Windows 11

Windows is up-to-date (it didn't work with the Windows May update, so we tried the June update, but to no effect).
Dell drivers are the latest, too.

Already tried installing NVIDIA Studio AND Gaming drivers.

Disabled third-party-plugins, reset preferences via Adobe Creative Cloud Diagnostics (Beta) tool.

Adobe Premiere CC Version is 23.4, but we also tried installing 23.3.
The only software that was installed between the time it worked and now was Camtasia 2022.

Thanks for letting us know! I tried installing Camtasia 23.02.45178 on my system, and Premiere Pro seems to be running as expected. Could you check if the newer version is working for you as well?

Hi @Ishan Y,

Since we only have a license for Camtasia 2022, I could only run tests there.

Updating to version 22.5.4 (as suggested in the Camtasia forum) did not help either.

So, you believe it's related to Camtasia, @creative_03c65777624? Let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin

We have also tried to install the 2023 version. The error is shown there, too.
Premiere still does not start.
As soon as Camtasia is deinstalled (2022 and 2023 version), Premiere does start again.

Below is a screengrab of the splash screen before it disappears. It looks like this for a couple of seconds, nothing changes on it at all, before disappearing.

I am also both glad and sorry to hear I'm not the only one with similar issues.

Did you completely uninstall all traces of the drivers for your previous GPU? If you didn't, then the graphics drivers will conflict with one another.
