Premiere relinks wrong files because they have the same name even though they have completely different durations and were recorded at a completely different time.

Is there any setting I missed or is adobe really that stupid not to integrate a feature to look out for duration and date when relinking offline media?

A lot of video files have a sidecar data file which contains the files properties, this is often only imported correctly using the media browser.
