Hi @gpguy,
I read your question. If you wanted to do some keying and compositing, why not do the whole shot in After Effects? Otherwise, you could render and replace the footage, and then send that to After Effects. You would have to create and import a preset that would respect the alpha channel, though. I hope that these ideas make sense. Let the community know if you have any questions. Sorry for any frustration this has brought you.
