I updated premiere pro to the latest update 25.6.2 but it's incredibly laggy and stuttering. Every time I click off of premiere pro to use a web browser and then go back to premiere pro it has to reload and doesn't respond, the screen goes white like it's thinking. It takes forever to load so I can continue my project. Then when I playback it stutters and takes forever to load and stop stuttering. It's making editing terrible and takes way longer than it should. I googled videos and ideas online and I have tried them all and nothing fixes it (like clearing cache, resetting settings, etc). I don't know how to fix it. Premiere pro was fine until I updated it. I also installed after effects and now it seems like adobe is super slow and crappy.

I have also made sure my graphics driver is up to date, uninstalled and reinstalled premiere pro and tried not using plugins and I still have the same issues

The main issue is stuttering, premiere pro not responding, and the program running very slowly.
I started a project, imported video, and starting editing when this started to happen. I waited for video to import fully.
I updated to Adobe premiere pro 25.6.2
I'm using Windows 10 Home version 22H2
I'm using Nvidia Studio Driver version 581.57
I'm using Mp4 video format
the problem started after updating premiere pro
it happens with all projects
when I click off of premiere pro and then back on the program it starts to stutter during playback

Hi kelsi35526786bkjf,
We're sorry to hear about this. We would need more details to properly diagnose the issue. Please let us know the system specs (CPU, GPU & RAM) & if the media files are saved on an external/network or an internal drive. Additionally, does the app enter a non-responsive mode after clicking on any specific panel in the UI, or is this issue occurring with all panels?
Thanks,
Sumeet

Thanks! Here's my info:
CPU - 2.90 GHz
GPU - 12G Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060
driver version: 32.0.15.8157
RAM - installed RAM 16G
the media is stored on internal drive
processor - intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz
the app enters a non-responsive mode when I click off of premiere pro and then go back to it and then the video starts to stutter like its fast forwarding. It doesn't go into non-responsive mode when I'm in the program using it but it is slow. It's specifically when I go off of premiere pro to use another application or program and then return to use premiere pro.
let me know if you need anything else

What are the hard drives (how many, what kind, what is on each, what capacity, and how full)?
What processor?
Make sure to use the latest Studio Driver from NVIDIA (NOT the Game Driver).

I have Drive C internal storage 465GB (which is at 398GB full) and Drive D 1TB (which is 614GB full) and also external drive 1Tb (and 855GB) but I only use the external drive for storage I don't use it with active videos in premiere pro. Processor is intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz

There may not be enough free hard drive space on the C drive.
Are all those drives SSDs?

Okay I'll empty some more space on the C drive and it's SSD. The D drive is HDD.

If the D drive is where your media is located, replacing it with a fast SSD will improve performance.
What processor do you have?

So I made a lot of extra room on the C drive there's 200 GB open and it's SSD. And it's still stuttering. It was working fine but then it started stuttering again. I'm only using the C drive for the project.

it will go back to playing the video normally but I don't know what the issue is and this is a small project

Thanks for all these details. I'm wondering if it's related to account permissions, since the problem is triggered by switching between apps.
As a test, try creating a fresh administrator profile on your computer and launch Premiere from there. Here's an article on how to create a new admin profile: https://adobe.ly/49Rq3nO
I hope this helps you get back on track. Let us know,
Caroline

It's the worst version of any app I've ever used. At this point I don't think Adobe is going to deliver a reliable version of PP ever again.
