Premiere Replace Footage issues

I have a video clip used in multiple comps that needed some work.
Originally an MXF file linked from disk, I brought the file into AE, did my cleanup then exported as an MP4, (making sure to keep the original aspect/settings etc) to my harddrive.

-I select the clip in my timeline and choose Reveal in Project.

- I select the highlighted clip in my BIN and choose Replace Footage.

- I choose my new MP4

The clip in my timeline plays back as black (Nothing). It has the cross-hatch pattern at the bottom of the clip preview. If I double-click on the timeline clip or the clip in the bin it plays perfectly.

What am I doing wrong? Any help out there please?

Realised my mistake FYI! I'd exported the original MXF to AE as an MP4. Doing so removed the timedata and metadata etc.Imported the original MXF file into AE and made the changes to that file. Exported and replaced in Premiere.Worked perfectly.
