Premire Pro Crashes on Import with new Update

So I record stream files from Streamlabs OBS and they are quite large, usually 2 hour long files at 1440p around 30-40 GB mp4 files. I do this for a living and work with premire 10 hours a week.

After updating to the latest version I brought in two of these files into my project. One workef fine, while the other was unplayable in the timeline. As a matter of fact, as soon as I try to play it no matter what, premire crahsed soon after. The file was completely fine and uncorrupted, and played on other softwares.

Once I reverted to the previous version of Premire, the file worked again. These are .mp4 files. Is it possible there is more to the discontinuation of the mkv file that I am not aware of? I would like to know if there is anything I am missing. No additional plugins/features whatsoever are installed and restarting the program/computer didn't help.

Hi  joshuas46982276,

It could be an issue with the clip. What is the codec and frame rate of the clip? Also, try to transcode the clip using Media Encoder and import the transcoded clip in Premiere Pro and check if it works.

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

NKush

It was H.264 and 30.00 frames/second. Its possible that would have worked but It would have taken too long for the time being since it was such a long file. Ill let you know if that works next time.
