I can't drag videos into the editing panel. Only the sound goes in. The video doesn't.

make sure you have the patching set up properly in the timeline.  The video source track and the target track have to be opposite each other and both enabled.  Don't have premiere running at the moment so can't send you a screen shot, but if you don't understand, just do some searching here...

Like mgranadier, I'm on my tablet so can't easily post the graphic.

 

On the far left of the timeline panel track header control block are several charcoal boxes with the track name in them. You can't really tell they are separate from the background by other than they do have those names.

 

For "source" patching, to bring items in from the Project/Source panels, you need to have a far-left Source track target set ... a blue block not charcoal ... for the video & audio tracks you want the clip to "drop" onto. Set by clicking the block.
