There two main problems with the search funtion in its current form (version 24.1).
Firstly, if 'enable auto scrolling' is disabled, then clicking through the results using the up and down arrows highlights but does not jump to the next result. This does not make sense. The reason for disabling auto scrolling is around performance and speed when clicking through different captions to edit them, but if you're searching for a word, then you do want it to jump to the next result when you click 'next'. If it's not on the screen, then there's no visual feedback at all, other than the number changing.
I generally prefer auto scrolling to be off, and when using the search function, each time I have to temporarily turn it back on - or manually scroll through the captions list to look for the next one that's been highlighted - impractical if it's a long script.
Secondly, the positioning of the results list and arrows is bad UI design. The search box is in the top-left; the results are in the bottom-right. The 'replace' button is logically under the search box, but the positioning of the results does not make sense. These UI elements are all part of one function, so they should be together and not spread around the screen.

@steveignite Thanks for sharing this. I agree, we should probably scroll for you when you're moving between results, even if auto-scroll is off. I'll make sure this gets logged.
