Productions_Match framing back to the Multicam sequence clip

In a Productions project, when I pull a snd bite from one project and splice into the timeline of another project, then later, match frame on that clip to find the source media - in this case the sequence multicam (not the source multicam clip), what happens is the program wants to open up the project version the clip came from.  More often than not, that project version is several weeks old or  sometimes missing altogether.  My workflow is to cop and save each project file unde the current date, archiving the project with the date from the day before. 

Is it the workflow that is messing up the beauty of using Productions?  

I'm on PPro 22.6.2 at the moment.
