Program freezes when dragging merged clips into timeline.

My Mac freezes up once I try to drag a selected in and out point (or whole clip for that matter) into my working timeline from the preview window of a merged file. The Mac has enough drive space, and this has happened on multiple computers, so I beleive it is a progam issues rather than a problem with the computer.I have also cleared cache files for the program.

This only appears to happen with files that are merged with audio and video, the individual video and audio clips have no problem being dragged over on their own, just when they are merged together. 

I was wondering if anyone has run into similair issues, or may know hown to fix it?
