Hi everyone,
I’m running into a strange issue in Premiere Pro and haven’t been able to fix it.
In one of my projects, the view and functionality in the project panel has gone wonky. For one, a checkbock has magically appeared immediatedly after the furthest left display, the color label. I did not add this, and in fact I dont even know its purpose or what the display is even called.
Also, the bins in the Project panel now will not expand at all. Here's a summation:
A small checkbox appears to the left of every bin and clip
The disclosure triangle stays pointed to the right and does nothing when clicked
The bin behaves like a selectable item instead of a folder
Double-clicking a bin opens it in a new tab instead of expanding it
Project panel is already in List View
Other projects behave normally... only this one shows the issue
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
Resetting the Project panel view preset
Toggling between List / Icon / Freeform view
Resetting the workspace
Resetting all workspaces to default
Restarting Premiere
Restarting the computer
None of these steps have fixed the behavior.
I have no idea how this even happened in the first place.
The only visual difference I notice is that this problematic project shows a checkbox column that I can’t remove, and ever since that appeared, bins no longer expand.
Has anyone seen this before?
Is there a hidden metadata column or mode that forces bins into a non-expandable state?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’ve never encountered this issue before.
Thanks!
@Jeena22389650a1ho Set your project panel to List View, and right click on the column header then choose > Metadata Display...
In the Premiere Pro Project Metadata, look for "Selected". This is the column that adds the checkbox and changes how the twirling open of bins works. Uncheck "Selected" then click OK. You should be back to normal.

It its one project make a new one and import the old one into this new one.

Yes, @Ann Bens suggestion is a good starting place.
I'd be interested in seeing a screen shot of what you are describing.

Please do make a screengrab ... then drag/drop that directly into the text reply area of your post, so the image simply shows in the post without needing to click anything.

You solved it, thank you! I did not add this "selected" metadata display though, so I'm curious how it happened in the first place. Nonetheless, thank you for your help Matt!
