project using text-based editing crashing - Adobe please help!

Could really use some help - have spent two weeks building a project with text-based editing, and was super happy with it. I've been mostly selecting out a bunch of interviews and cutting down scenes, dropping the interview SLX (multicams with external sound) into a big SLX sequence that had grown to about 5 hours. Have been having no problems until today, when suddenly my project has slowed to a crawl and is constantly crashing.

I'm working in 23.4 on Windows 10.

I've tried a BUNCH of different troubleshooting. Cleared media cache. Reset preferences. Took project to another computer (Mac). Tried a different drive with the same footage and couldn't get it to relink. Deleted a new font I thought might be the cause.  Imported sequences into a new project. Suddenly it's crashing every time I try and open the transcripts.

Opened project in 23.3 and it's fine, but now of course I can't used the text-based edit and there are no transcripts at all to even follow.

I've lost nearly a full day's work and am going to miss a deadline. Any help from Adobe would be SO appreciated.

Also going back to old auto-saves it's lost transcriptions that were working fine? Please, Adobe reach out so we can troubleshoot - feels like this feature wasn't ready for ship.

Have basically at this point chalked things up to absolutely losing two weeks of work. Literally rebuilding my project from sync as I have had so many issues with a project built using the text-based editing that I can no longer even trust them to open and play now that i've downgraded to 23.3. Old versions from auto-save are behaving super erratically and I honestly can't troubleshoot this anymore. Editors on deadline do NOT USE. Adobe shipped this before it was ready. Let my 24 hours of absolute hell be your warning.

Hi Ann - this is a totally separate issues from the relinking issues (which also sound bad!)

Also I don't think my response should be merged as a comment - there really needs to be a warning that this is unstable and people should not begin projects on deadline in it until Adobe bug fixes.

@Courtney30536708upzo,

Painful. I don't recall anyone reporting this particular problem. Thanks for all the detail on your troubleshooting efforts. I can't think of an option you haven't tried.

I see one report of text-based not working in multicam, but I still suspect that one was related to getting the right audio track. I have not experimented yet.

When you open this project in 23.3, were all the sequences/clip timing okay? You could create regular sequence transcripts (what in 23.4 are called "static transcripts"). But no, you can't use text-based editing.

Hi Stan,

At this point the old projects, some going back over a week in auto-save eventually begin to crash and become unstable when I try and open them in 23.3. They will work for a bit but then eventually I crash. My theory is there's some transcription files that have become corrupted or deleted but I have no idea. Even importing the sequences to new projects becomes unstable. I've literally started a new project in 23.3 from sync importing transcripts as captions from Trint because I can't risk having this happen again. 2 weeks of work down the drain. Beyond frustrated - I've NEVER had a technical issue with Adobe like this. First time a software has brought me to tears since Final Cut Pro hahaha.

Oh and yes I wasn't seeing the timing issues opening the project in 23.3 but I wasn't changing drives. This is a totally different issue.

@Kevin-Monahan @TeresaDemel would love to send some of these project files for anyone at Adobe to take a look at if that's helpful
