question about adjustment layer that is saved to the bin...

I've got this adjustment layer with settings, masks and effects named & saved to the bin.

My question is, if I drag a second instance of this adjustment layer over a sequence and alter some of the settings; am I right in saying it will overwrite original settings with the new ones?

And, that the only way to prevent his is to duplicate the adj. layer in the bin and give it a unique name?

Thank you.

I guess you mean that you're using applying effects to adjustment source layer/master clip effects. If so yes you would need to duplicate the adjustment layer.
