Hello, I'm encountering a problem where I have a clip highlighted and I try to open Clip > Source Settings, but nothing actually happens. It isn't greyed out or anything like that, it just doesn't seem to open anything. I apologize if I'm missing something, as I am a new user, but if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kartika,
It seems I am using version 15.2.0 (Build 35).
The files in question are mp4 files, in 1920x1080 60fps.
I just reset my preferences and I'm getting the same result.

looking at this
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/how-to/view-modify-source-settings-raw-media.html
it seems that source settings are only availale for certain formats... Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm mistaken (wouldn't be the first time). What are you trying to modify with this? Properties will give you all the info, and Modify gives you certain options which may or may not be what you're looking for.

Probably you are right. I tried to add directly from the RAW file and it worked. The pop-up window appeared.
I'm trying to lock the direction of a 360 video and select the horizontal stabilization.
In summary, I'm just trying to edit my video clips directly on AdobePr and not in the Insta360 Studio app. Right now, is more difficult to use Adobe but obviously provided the format that I want and the option to add subtitles.

There is a known issue with nested audio: if any in the timeline, delete or disable Show Audio Waveform.

what are the properties of your source files? Select a clip in the project either in a bin or in the timeline, right click on the clip and choose "properties" and please tell us the video codec type.

I have several different files (none of them work regarding the "source settings"). At this moment, "source settings" isn't woking with none of my files.
Just to point that out, "source settings" is NOT grayed out. It just dosen't open.
Thaks for your help!

Please read my earlier post which makes it clear that "source settings" is only available with certain formats.
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/how-to/view-modify-source-settings-raw-media.html
And no it's not greyed out when it's not available... (although probably should be). What are you trying to do? "Properties" displays important characteristics of media files... And the options in "modify" allow you to change certain parameters...

no problem. We all make this kind of mistake here particularly as the threads get lengthy. At a certain point, I just preface my post with an excuse that I didn't have time to review the entire thread... Hope you're finding this forum a useful resource... It's invaluable for me... I've been doing this a very long time and it's amazing what I still don't know. Premiere is an incredibly deep program...

Same here: Version 23.3.0 (Build 69) - source settings are NOT greyed out but when you click it, nothing happens. I would like to change the frame-rate setting from 50fps to 25fps with my camera I used for 3 years and awalys worked - in this version it doesn't.
THX for your help,
Robert

Source settings only works with certain formats and as far as I know, it's been that way for quite a while. What are the properties of the files you're trying to change... or tell us what the model of the camera you use? And there are 2 ways to change the frame rate. One is to simply drop the clip into a sequence with the desired frame rate and the other is to select the clip in the project (not the timeline) and control click and choose modify: interpret footage. The modify option is only in certain circumstances.

Just a belated update: 'Source Settings' does not work on PPro 2024 (24.6.1 build 2) or PPro 2025 (25.1.0 build 23). I highlight a clip in the timeline - The 'Source Settings' option becomes active - click - nothing happens. Sony S-Log3/S-Gamut3.Cine -- HEVC compression -- 10 bit 4:2:2 chroma subsampling -- 23.976fps - Researched 'works only with certain formats' to no avail; the above file properties are very common so it should work. This would be very useful. But alas....

Lewiscat, please tell us what you're trying to do... There's probably a way to do it that doesn't involve "source settings." I suspect it's a vestige of long ago programming that hasn't been cleaned up.
