R3D import adds 001 to filename

Hey everyone,

I have come across an issue where Premiere imports R3D footage with the folder name + _001 (which is the first clip of the 2GB chunks) from the Media Browser.

This is obviously creating problems down the line e.g. with attaching proxies to those files or relinking files as they won't have the _001 extension added to the file name. That means you can only relink one file at a time as it won't find the other ones even when you check 'relink others automatically'.

Is there an easy way to solve this in premiere or do I really need to add the _001 to each file when creating proxies or output final grades?

I would love to keep it all in the original file names if possible.

Cheers,

Marc

Are you importing by folder, or selecting the contents of the folder? I've got some r3d to import over the weekend myself.

I am importing the R3D files as you need to import through the media
browser for premiere to read them correctly.
And the media browser doesn't show the clip folders but only the clips
itself.

Which is great in general. Importing works perfectly fine too, it's just
annoying that it adds the _001 extension instead of taking the folder name
