Razor Tool not Aligning to Playhead

New Here ,
Jun 09, 2024 Jun 09, 2024

I was editing and then all of a suddent the razor tool wasn't aligning to the playhead.

It changed to aligning to arbitriary chuncks of video.

I made sure that the 'snap in timeline' was turned on.

Restarting the application didn't change anything.

Tbh I'm really frustrated with this application because things like this seem to happen all the time and I have to stop for like an hour just to try and fix it.

I would appreciate some help as I couldn't find a solution, thanks.

I believe I found the solution from another thread:

"Your sequence is set to audio units. You can cut audio tracks there, but not a video clip.

Video frames cannot be "partials", they have to be a full frame length. So for a 24fps, with actual 24fps media (not 23.976), each frame is 1/24th of a second of timeline space. No more, no less.

So you can't cut part of a frame off."

You can change between audio and video units by right clicking the timeline and selecting audio units at the bottom.

Perhaps I need to shoot my videos at a higher frame rate so I can cut them more accurately?

That is correct: you can only cut whole video frames.

You could film with a higher framerate but if you put the footage in a sequence with a lower framerate you are back to square one.

You can cut audio to 1/48000 of a second
