Realtek Audio on PC is Stereo Only

Participant ,

Hi, Folks.

My default system sound output is the Realtek Audio driver. I have the Logitech 5.1 THX speakers connected via RCA to my MSI Godlike Motherboard and coneected via optical (Digital) cable. The Premiere Audio Hardware Settings for MME/Realtek will only allow 2 speakers. If I switch to the ASIO driver using ASIO 4 ALL, I can map to Multichannel for multichannel playback.

The MSI Motherboard also makes available the Nahimic driver, but I use the Realtek mostly for stereo.

My question is: Is there any way for Premiere to be able to play Multichannel Audio with the Realtek Audio driver?

Thank you,

Bob K.

The MME implimentation in Premiere Pro is Stereo only.  ASIO4All is the correct workaround.

Thank you!

I had no idea MME was stereo only.

It's just that I remote into a computer at work using HP ZCentral and that uses MME. When working remotely, if I use a program on my personal computer that needs ASIO, it will occasionally stop MME from working in ZCentral. Then audio is muted. I have to close the program using ASIO, sign out of my remote session, close ZCentral, reopen ZCentral, log back in and all is set.

Anyway, it's not an Adobe issue. I'll keep experimenting trying to get everything to play nicely. It just sounds like a driver conflict. The company I work for will be moving to "cloud-based editing" farily soon. Maybe that will help.

Thankk you again.

Bob K.
