Greetings,
I've been bashing my head trying to figure out how to render and replace audio files with handles for later export to a sound editor using Reaper. OMF files don't work in this case so we use Vordio as middle man. I am a video game editor so my source video has the audio embedded thus my audio source files are as giant as the video. Anyway I found a work around that lets me grab all the clips on the timeline and have premiere "render and replace..." but also add handles to the files so that the sound editor can later mix them.
1. Create a Wave only (or whatever sound setting you want) export preset on Media Encoder. In my case I called it "Wave Export"
2. Export the Export Preset, and put the .EPR file somewhere you can find it.
3. In Premiere, create a Black Video Item (setting are irrelevant) and place it somewhere on your time line.
4. Select the Black Video and any audio clips you wish to Render and Replace (this will let us get the dialogue for Render and Replace which does not come out if you only have audio files selected)
5. Right Click on one of the clips and Render and Replace!
6. Now on the dialogue window
Source: Preset
Format: Waveform Audio (I chose a wave export on my preset, this would vary depending on the format you chose earlier) Preset: The Name of your Export Preset
The rest of the options are up to you (Yay handles!)
7. Click OK
Now all your clips should turn in to separate files that have handles. From here you can export and XML and source those new shiny wave files.

This isn't work. Premiere show error "Cannot trancode clip to audio-only when interpret Footage is applied". Tested on 2023, 2024 versions. Someone have maybe solution for this issue? Adobe could update this to give handles for audio render.

Hello Pawel,
Would you like to make a feture request for this? I can move this post to the Ideas forum, if you like.
Thanks,
Kevin

File > Export > OMF or AAF would be the quickest way to do this.

If you want to export only the audio, that can be done in Premiere.
Or ... you can Send to Audtion, and export the audio from Audition. Multiple ways to do this.
