I've recently been using some transition presets and adjustment layers from extensions and plug-ins. For a while, I was simply able to drag and drop the transitions onto my timeline and the effect played back on my timeline. All of a sudden, I now have to render the selected transition before I can preview it on my timeline before I can play it back. It's getting tedious and annoying. Any ideas?
Not sure if this is related, but all I can think of that I changed recently was that I cleared out my media cache. Could that have affected anything?
I'm using the most updated 2024 premiere pro on a mac.
AND it turns out I had Global FX Mute on which was hindering my effect playback... easy fix 😒

Hi @jasony40939794,
I read about your problem. Sounds frustrating. Deleting media cache is never a bad thing. It shouldn't affect your workflow whatsoever. Just wait a few minutes before diving back into the edit giving Premiere Pro a chance to create new files. For smaller projects, this won't take long.
Has anything changed in your workflow? Were you working in a 1920 x 1080 sequence but now are in a 1080 x 1920 sequence, for example? Sequence size and Adjustment Layer dimensions not matching the sequence is the problem most people face. These "transition packs" can be quite tricky to manipulate when being used for other workflows than they were designed for. Deconstructing how they were made can lead to the adjustments you need to make to get them to work in a custom workflow.
If not, did you update a Premiere Pro project to a newer version? If you have not changed your workflow, have you tried resetting preferences?
I apologize for the issue. Message the community about any other observations you can share. I hope we can help you.
Thanks.
Kevin
