Long shot, I know, but if I've got .mp4 or other format files exported from Premiere timelines, is there any way to reveal what the original Project file they came from was named? Wondering if it's maybe hidden in metadata or something.
I did revisions to a bunch of files last year, have the exported mp4s, but can't find the original Premier Project. Thx

I think there is... 😉
All files exported out of Premiere Pro have some meta data added to the file so other Adobe apps can use the command Edit Original. If i for example export a file out of Premiere Pro and import it into After Effects i can then use the Edit Original command inside After Effects

All files exported out of Premiere Pro have some meta data added to the file so other Adobe apps can use the command Edit Original. If i for example export a file out of Premiere Pro and import it into After Effects i can then use the Edit Original command inside After Effects to automagically launch Premiere Pro and load the very project that once rendered out the file.
So the key is to find a way to read the meta data in the files you have. In the meta data there should be info regarding which Premiere Pro project that once created the file. I just don´t know any way to extract that meta data.
Update:
I did a Google search and uploaded a short file i just created and got this, iow the name of the project that created the file ten minutes ago:
But yes, uploading files is not ideal. Do a Google search for "meta data reader for mp4" and hopefully you will find an app that you can use locally on your computer. 🙂
