Likely there's an obvious answer, but the ripple trim tool doesn't affect the caption track? Why wouldn't the default action keep captions in sync?
My workaround was to select all tracks forward, which does include caption track, and move the desired amount. But seems ripple trim should do this?

The ripple trim will work, but you need to do the following:
1) Arm the layer by hitting the C1 icon (turning it blue)
2) If you delete a section of video, there needs to be space for rippling the captions to the left as well; if there is no room for rippling, the video will only move as much as there is room for the caption to ripple.
3) You will need to delete captions if video has been removed.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Richard. Well, that was weird... I swear my initial attempt had all that set, but it only rippled the video/audio tracks. After your reply I made a copy of that same timeline, and tried again, and it worked! No idea.
PS - I LOVE the ability to apply a saved style to the caption track.

Glad it worked!
Please go back to the original timeline and double check if there weren't any "orphan" caption clips that prevented a proper ripple...
