Happens in larger projects. Shortly after I start typing into the search bar, it gets deselected and I have to reselect to finish writing the phrase.
Been appening for as long as I can remember. Intel and silicon. Currently on 23.6.0 on macOS 13.5.
It's really annoying. Please fix!

Are you bumping say the Cmd or Alt or Shift keys? Or using Shift with a letter that's also a keyboard shortcut?
I'm wondering if somehow, incidentally, you're triggering a panel change?

Hey Neil, thanks for trying to help!
Sadly, no. It happens almost every time I do it, so I would be very bad at typing, which I’m not..
Also, it doesn’t happen in the effects search bar…

Hi @Hillelars,
Thanks for the notes. I tested it out and couldn't reproduce the error. Does this happen with new projects too, or only with updated projects originating in earlier versions? Let us know.
Thank You,
Kevin

Hi Kevin, thanks for replying!
Sorry for the delay, I'm only back in the edit today...
So I created a new project in 24 and copied everything from the old one over (the only thing I could do due to time restrictions). The problem still exist, although after a day of editing it seems like it doesn't happen quite as often...
Was this a known but in earlier versions?

The few times that I have had text entry issues, it was something else connected to the computer like a Wacom tablet and that was in After Effects.
Escape, Tab, Return, fn + Return and Enter should change focus but of course when deliberately pressed.
What is getting the focus after the text entry is interrupted?
Are you able to do a screen recording and post that? (You could post it to the FrameIO account included with your Adobe ID and then share a persentation link.)

For anyone still experiencing this, I'm on Premiere Pro 24.6.1 on macOs Sonoma 14.6.1
I've been putting up with the frustration of the search field losing focus after typing one character. Warren's suggestion that it might be a Wacom device lead me to the solution. Updated the Wacom driver through the Wacom Center App (now on 6.4.7-2) and the problem went away. I didn't even have to restart Premiere or the computer ... problem gone.
