Security Update 2022-003 Catalina on mac breaks XDCAM software and NTFS 3rd party software

Don't apply this update if you use Paragon or Tuxera software to have read/write access to NTFS-formatted drives, as it breaks the software. If you uninstall the software, you rgain read-only access, which is baked into the mac os.

The update also prevevents XDCAM discs from mounting on the desktop when used with an XDCAM reader/writer. The XDCAM Drive Utility reports the disc to be in a perpetual state of "unmounting".

Sony has not responded. Paragon did, and said that it will require a further Apple update to resolve the issue. I've reported both to Apple, but... yeah. Who would think a security update would cause so mush trouble?

If you have installed the security update and lost NTFS read/write access, Paragon suggested this workaround to me:

After the latest macOS 10.15.7 Catalina Security Update 2022-003 (19H1824), issues have been reported with mounting NTFS volumes using the NTFS for Mac driver. The Development team were able to reproduce and confirm the issue. We expect it to be fixed in the next macOS updates.

For now, the following workaround can be tried:

1) Make sure you're using Microsoft NTFS for Mac by Paragon Software build 15.9.314

It can be downloaded from the ParagonBox user portal if you have a license registered there or directly from the site:
https://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/

Be sure to uninstall any previous versions as described below:
https://kb.paragon-software.com/article/4500

2) Connect the drive containing the NTFS partition, and make sure the partition is not mounted.

3) Open the Terminal utility (Application -> Utilities -> Terminal) and perform the following command to create a mountpoint:

 sudo mkdir /Volumes/ntfs

 4) Run the following command:

 diskutil list

and note the NTFS partition's Identifier (disk0s3, for instance)

5) Run the following command to mount it:

sudo /Library/Filesystems/ufsd_NTFS.fs/Contents/Resources/mount_ufsd_NTFS /dev/diskXsY /Volumes/ntfs

where diskXsY - the NTFS partition from the previous step

(for instance)
sudo /Library/Filesystems/ufsd_NTFS.fs/Contents/Resources/mount_ufsd_NTFS /dev/disk0s3 /Volumes/ntfs

Please attach screenshots and new verbose logs if the issue is still present:

Unfortunately the workaround proposed by Paragon doesn't seem to work, at least not for all scenarios. I can access the files on my NTFS-formatted (internal) Boot camp partition, but not write to it or boot from it. (Windows 10 Home is installed, and updated.) A few weeks ago I uninstalled Parallels Desktop so I don't know whether there's any issues with that as well, but my guess is that Parallels wont work on NTFS-formatted partitions either. (Should work on Parallels Desktop's virtual drives though, but that's another matter.)
