Hello,
I worked for several days on a video and I am sure I saved the project several times. Today, Premiere crashed and it went really fast, everything closed and the app asked for it to be updated. I did, even recovered the projects, but when they opened again, the timeline was empty, and sequence nowhere to be found. I tried looking for it on the Project panel, and the images and music used were there, but no sequence.
I tried not panicking and went on my folders for the Auto save versions. I tried opening several versions, but in any of them was a sequence item! So now I've lost all my editing... Luckily I did export the video so at least I have a version of it so I can watch it and try to reproduce, but I admit it would be so long and I'm so frustrated and angry. I don't understand why there's nothing in the Auto save folders, that's why they're there! I have tried everything I found online, but no trick worked.
Could you let me know if it's a lost cause (and why?), and I should stop trying to find my edit?
I work with Mac, MacOs Sonoma 14.4.1
Premiere Pro 2024 24.4.1 (after updating on Creative Cloud)
Thank you !
Sorry you had this experience. We've never had any reports of failures to save specific project items...

This doc will not bring back your files but will give you some tips on how to save your project.
FAQ: When to use "Save A Copy," or "Save As," and when to simply use "Save"

I also had this problem with the new version. For me, a complete project in a production suddenly disappeared too and was also no longer available in the AutoSave. I have returned to version 23.3. Version 24.4.1 is not really usable.

returning to previous version did bring you back the sequence from the auto saves?
if yes, how to go back to previous version?

Similar problem here. Not the same issue but weird stuff indeed. I' ve been using Premiere pro for 8 years now and never had such an issue. I'm usually saving newer versions of my projects at points I am making a bigger change, or if Premiere crashes. So I'll typically have ProjectName 1, ProjectName 2 etc. A couple of days ago I saved my current project for the last time before sending to media encoder. It consisted of 9 sequences, each one an episode of a podcast, and they were lined up on my timeline. I was checking if everything is ready for export. I saved my project and reopened the next day to find there were no sequences on my timeline, except one. I went looking for them in the Project panel and couldn't find them (even by typing their name in the search bar). I eventually found them in my previous version of the project, but not in the same bins they should have been. I thought I moved something by mistake, but then it happened again. I don't know what it is but it seems like Premiere is mixing stuff between project versions, or even randomly putting them into bins they are not supposed to be in. I know it sounds crazy for anybody who knows Premiere and can't wrap my head around it. Did anyone have similar issues?
