In my media bin since I exported once the Sequence 1 file has turned into a .mov file

Are you saying that you cannot open the sequence any longer?

It sounds like you exported a sequence using the default sequence name and had 'import into project' option selected in your export settings. You now have a video file in your project panel the same name as your sequence but your sequence will still be there somewhere, it may be hidden in one of the project bins.

If you had the export option "import into project" checked, and you exported to mov, you would have ALSO that mov file with the sequence name added to the project.

It would not replace the sequence file, however. That is still there.
